July 2008 Update to my first silo site

    Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 09:47 AM [General]

Here is an update to my first silo site.

As some of you know, Google has recently updated their page rank data. My website now has a PR 1 for 8 out of 10 pages and PR 2 for 2 pages.

One of the two pages was promoted thru article syndication and social media. The second page is an article within the first page's silo; I wonder if the PR 2 on that 2nd page is a result of internal passing of PR, as that second page was not heavily promoted.

There are 900+ references in Google when I type "website.com" in the search bar. And there are about 92 inlinks in Yahoo.

The other pages weren't really promoted other than the usual WP pinging, and I think they got PR 1 because of inbound linking buoyancy.

There are certainly more improvements to make. First, the site needs more pages than just 10. Second, it needs better optimized pages, as the current content was not well written with the proper keyword density and proper use of supporting keyword phrases. Third, I did not complete all of the tasks in the social media blueprint, as it gets rather manual and time-consuming.

With those acknowledgements plus the fact that I've begun to profit from this website thru adsense, I can invest more into the proper promotional methods.

I've developed a plan to do this in the near future. Once I've cleared my plate of more immediate priorities, I will launch a promotional blitz for this site.

Update on my first silo site

    Tuesday, May 27, 2008, 10:30 AM [General]

It's been roughly a week since I first noticed my silo site indexed on all pages. I have statcounter on the site and saw some natural traffic yesterday. My page ranked #1 for a misspelled term. I remember throwing that misspelling in while I wrote the article.

The next step is waiting for my first order of outsourced articles. Yes, I finally opened my pocketbook to hire someone to write for me. The first round should be ready any day now.

I'm also looking for some ghost writers that would like to be compensated on a revenue share model. My adsense revenue is averaging 15% click thru rate. There is a lot of room to grow, expand, and earn lots of money :)

If you know anyone that would be interested, have them contact me on this post. Here's the description of the task...

    ----------------------------

Need long term ghost writer to write five (5) 400-700 word articles per week. You are welcome to write more, but the minimum is five per week. One article submitted to me per day (M-F). These must pass copyscape. I provide the keywords. You write and place these unique articles on the sites I request.

This is a joint venture, so I will compensate you by sharing the traffic that is generated from your work. That means you will earn recurring income for as long as traffic comes from the content you write and syndicate. We will split the traffic 60/40, where you take 60%.

The more articles you write, the more money you will make. I have a proven method to getting traffic to my websites, so all you have to do is write unique articles based on my specifications and syndicate them on my specifications. I will handle everything else (keyword research, website design, seo, etc.).

Income generated will be from adsense.

    Update from a long silence

    Wednesday, May 21, 2008, 09:48 AM [General]

Sorry for my lack of eloquence in the following post. I'm still tired from nights of restless sleep. I think about my business all the time. I sleep late and wake up early. This routine gets the best of me some times, and today I'm feel very much like a zombie.

My second request for apology is for not writing consistently. I got so busy with the multi-level changes in my online efforts that I didn't know how to report back on them. Now, I have this beast of information and my problem is that I cannot wrangle it into anything sensible. My business has gotten so complex in the past month.

I took to heart the recording from Russell and Art as well as Mr. Black's caution. I began to explore the seo and authority site paths along with what I am doing already. The result is an integrated business model, which is becoming more and more in line with the concept of multi-channel marketing.

My Internet marketing business model is no longer a choice of what strategies I chose to do my promotion on. It's not about being a pay per click marketer or an seo marketer or a social media marketer, etc. It's really all of those things combined into an integrated whole.

I've discovered for myself the advantages and restrictions of each of those models, and I see now that the restrictions kept me from being free to promote anything I wanted under the sun. For instance, if I wanted to promote a loans offer on Google's contextual network, I had better be willing to pay more than 5 cents per click. The niche is so competitive that there is a higher barrier to entry. It used to bum me out that I could not enter into certain markets because I was restricting myself by the promotional strategy I chose.

Now, when I realize the down-side of any one strategy, I look to the others to see if I can use that to promote a certain offer I have in mind. An offer and market fits into at least one type of promotion, or else there wouldn't be any money made from it.

So, I am busier than before and I some have said am more thinly spread out. I prefer to see it as I am more resourceful and wiser. And in the spirit of multi-channel marketing, I will be bringing my marketing efforts offline when my business is ready to take that on.

Something Practical To Share: Project 1

Russell had been preaching for a long time about silo architecture websites. I decided to build a site based on this model. I threw up 7-page site in a day. It consisted of 4 unique articles, three silos, privacy, sitemap, and contacts page. All pages were indexed in Google within a week with no promotion other than the built-in Wordpress pinging script.

The next step is to ****s what terms each page actually ranks for. Once I know that, I can taylor my future content to optimizing keyword terms. I will also add Adsense to monetize the traffic. By the time all of this is complete, there will be 15 content pages. The goal is to have all 18 pages indexed and natural traffic going to the site within 30 days. I will age it for a few months then put it up for sale. The goal is to sell for 4 figures.

The biggest challenge at this point is writing content. I've written all 4 articles myself and will write the 11 more that are needed. Writing is not my favorite part of the website creation process, but I'm honestly too cheap to pay for it to be done. Plus, I don't have the desire to or patience to teach someone about properly writing articles. Once I sell this site, I'll invest some of it to hire a writer for the next site. That will be a carrot I'm waving in front of myself.

I think I will create one site like this a month to have a continually fed pipeline. This, among all other projects I have going, will keep me busy, as if I'm not already.

I like to have many plates spinning at once. It keeps my interest going without getting too emotional over the performance of any one strategy.

    Project 2

Another project I have going is creating a business model to bringing in entry-level marketers. I've been working at this model for some time and am now working with a select few clients. Things are slow-going as I am documenting every step. We are still on the setup stage of opening accounts and such.

That's all I can say about that for now.

    Adwords Update and The Plan

Saturday, April 19, 2008, 03:41 PM [Pay Per Click]

The past week's events resulted in a better understanding of what I should be doing in the short term, mid term, and long term. Russell has said many times over to, "Begin with the end in mind". These words have hit home.

Credit to my process changes goes to the Themezoom staff, its members, third-party tools, Themezoom documentation, and down-in-the-trenches experience. To top this all off, I downloaded PersonalBrain and am documenting my business mind map. I'm in the process of going thru my pile of hard-copy notes and typing them into PersonalBrain. My desk shall be clutter-free by the end of this day!

Back to updaing you on my Adwords impressions. I don't know where to begin, so let me just tell you the end part. My impressions are stable. I understand now how to get the impressions on my current campaigns as well as where to find the impressions (traffic) for future campaigns.

I put up 4 test campaigns this past week. All of them resulted in getting traffic. Three of them made sales. The 4 campaigns were tests on new market and keyword research methods. I'm sorry, but I won't be detailing them here or anywhere public. You'll have to join ThemeZoom to find out for yourself.

In a recent call that Russell and Art did, they talked about the long term business model. Those concepts were not new to me, and I have every intention of pointing my business in that direction. But one thing I didn't have was a real plan to get from A to Z. With the unfolding of events this past week (ThemeZooom released audios and Krakken webinar) along with the tests I conducted in Adwords, I have begun laying down a top-level method of how to get from A to Z. And the mind map will help me to stay focused and organized.

I am doing the following to drive my short term business model that will lead me into the mid term (the long term plan will be left unmentioned)...

    1) Continue to use PPC as I have been to test various markets

    2) Create niche sites to get natural traffic [based on successful campaigns from step 1]

    3) Monetize the niche sites with MFA, CPS, CPA, and eventually lead generation

    4) Take the most hungry markets from the successful niche sites and create authority sites (mid term plan)

The layout above is nothing new to 99% of you. Remember, it is not about the plan, but it's more about knowing with certainty how one is going to succeed at executing the plan.

I'll keep you updated on my progress. Stay tuned, and subscribe to my twitter tweets so you can get my brain spills in between blog posts :)

    @Mr. Black

I appreciate you taking the time to chime in on my post. I am also glad that you see flaws in my technique, as I want to learn to use TZ to its full potential.

In running 20 or so market kw through Krakken, I see quite a few potential website 1 situations. To start, I have my sights set on creating 3-silo'd sites.

However, creating these sites is secondary to my main focus, which is traffic brokering. I am still compelled to doing mainly traffic brokering for now, as it let's me get my feet wet in many markets while learning about copywriting and direct response.

I will start on the MCM course very soon. From that, should have a clearer picture on how to use TZ for its true intention.

    Best,
    Eve

While Listening to Interview With Jon Keel...

Saturday, April 12, 2008, 11:15 AM [Pay Per Click]

Jon, a one-man show...This is me in a nutshell, except I'm in the learning curve phase and I do this for myself (I have no clients).

Here's where I stand today in my learning curve: I struggle with setting priorities and top-level goals on a daily basis.

Right now, Adwords impressions are low and I have to decide how I should react to that. Should I...

    1) Keep plugging away setting up campaigns on the content network (pushing CPA zip/email submits) on the same domain?

    2) Put up new campaigns using a different domain (content network)?

    3) Put up new campaigns on a new adwords account (content network)?

    4) Review the site placement report and see where my ads are appearing and assess each individual adgroup accordingly? Would I be over-analyzing the situation by doing this?

    5) Do site targeting campaigns for winning adgroups based on the data gathered from option #4?

    6) Forget all of the above. Instead, venture into the search network and learn how to play in that QS arena?

I'm thinking that I would try option #2 - a small change but noticeable if Google hates my current domain.

Do you have any input for me?

    --------------------------------------

@Russell, you asked what I am really selling and what is my primary income stream.

ANS: 1) I find traffic and funnel them through to lead offers using PPC. 2) Commissions from CPA networks is my primary income stream.

I have found many traffic keywords through TZ but Adwords has given me very low impressions since April 8. I don't know why other than I moved my adgroups around to different campaign names. I consolidated adgroups to differentiate between winning adgroups and testing adgroups. I checked with Adwords support prior to doing this and they said it would not subject my ads for review so long as I just move them without editing them. So I went hog wild and revamped my campaign structure.

I felt the need to do that because Adwords only allows 25 campaigns per account, and at this time they will not raise my campaign limit.

Since I broker traffic from PPC to CPA offers, I'm in many markets at the same time; therefore, my campaigns have no theme relevance. My campaigns are only segregated by country (US, AU, UK, CA), and these only run on the content network for the cheap click costs since I am pushing $1 CPA offers.

Since Google won't give my adgroups the impressions they once had, not even the new adgroups I put up, I am unable to test the effectiveness of my TZ research. That is why I am considering goig to the search network to attempt to find and dominate the traffic.

My campaigns are directed to my domain. This domain is not silo'd. It has no real theme but comprises of individual PPC landing pages. There's a link on each LP that goes to the index page of the doman. The content on the landing pages is dynamically generated to pull in feeds from articles, blogs, videos, and images. I can get my click costs down to 3c while maintaining an average position of 3 or 4 with these LPs.

The adgroups that were getting an aggregate of 1.5 million impressions last month now get 1/3 of that. My conversion rate has stayed the same, so the traffic converts. I'm just not getting that much traffic anymore.

What else should I elaborate on? Do you or anyone else have any more advice for me?

    Pay Per Click with ThemeZoom

Friday, April 11, 2008, 09:27 AM [Pay Per Click]

    Hi Folks!

This has been a wild year for me with affiliate marketing. I've learned a lot of things ranging from programming to market research to keyword research. Themezoom has definitely played a major part in understanding the big picture. And more practically, TZ has taken a lot of the guess work out of the internet marketing life cycle.

I've been privileged to follow the development of TZ from last summer to now. Although for most of that time I did not implement TZ output, the knowledge I gain from the tutorials churned in the back of my mind. Now, I have evolved my traffic brokering experience to accept and implement its tactics.

This week I launched my very first pay per click campaigns using TZ output. Although the VMAD module takes a while to process, I am still the bottleneck and not TZ. I have a laundry list of csv files waiting for me to launch campaigns with.

This is an exciting time in my traffic brokering business. Join me on this journey, and we can share success together!
